Dear University of Birmingham senior management,
We have received notification of the new injunction claim against the occupiers of Horton Grange. In light of the hearing not taking place until the 3rd February, we are offering a means to avoid the extortionate legal costs that the university will have to pay to enforce this injunction.
If you commit, publicly and in writing, to the implementation of a Living Wage for all staff, and to organising a negotiation meeting with respect to our other demands, we will leave this occupation, without need for you to expensively and violently force us out.
We do not want the University to be wasting its resources on repression. It would be far better to use them to implement the Living Wage and to address some of our other demands. So long as you refuse to listen - or seriously negotiate with the staff and students at the university - we will continue to organise actions. No matter how hard you try, you will never be able to secure the campus from the students and staff, who work and study here.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Defend Education
